True Love- A Constant (πππ™)

Flood waters can’t drown love,

Torrents of rain can’t put it out.

For love is as strong as death;

It’s jealousy unyielding as the grave.

Love is not love

Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove.

It is an ever fixed mark,

That looks on tempests and is never shaken.

Love is not blind,

It sees more not less;

But because it sees more…

It chooses to see less.

Love does not die easily.

It is a living thing

It thrives in the face of all life’s hazards, save one –  Neglect.

Love doesn’t just sit there  like a stone;

It has to be made,

Like bread- remade all the time,

Anew daily remade.

One half of  me is yours,

The other half yours-

Mine own I would say;

But if mine, then yours and so all yours!

For what you have is mine;

Our state cannot be severed;

We are one, one flesh;

To  lose thee were to lose myself.

I love thee, I love but thee;

With a love that shall not die;

Till the sun grows cold

And the stars grow old.
